What we promise

You will be told what is happening, why, and what comes next. You will be seen by a named clinician. You will leave with a written plan in plain language.

We train the next generation of doctors and nurses with the regional medical school, which keeps our practice current and our questions honest.

Our history

Six decades of care
  • 1962: opened with 60 beds and one operating theatre
  • 1987: opened the cardiac and maternity wings
  • 2009: became a university teaching hospital
  • 2018: introduced one shared electronic patient record
  • 2024: opened the new emergency and imaging centre

Our values

How we work

Explain first

Every procedure is explained before it begins, in plain language.

Respect time

We publish waiting times and work to shorten them.

Treat the person

Care plans account for your home, work and family.

Keep improving
